Love This Track had the incredible opportunity to be in attendance at Kes The Band launch event for the release of their first worldwide single ‘Major,’ June 10th. The launch took place at one of New York City’s finest live world music venues known as SOB’s.
Formed in 2005, Kes the Band has taken the industry by storm performing in major cities, playing in front of crowds with over twenty thousand fans in attendance, and opening for major artists such as Rihanna, Usher, and Maroon 5. Being a Caribbean pop/soca group, they are known for their unique blend of soulful vocals as well as their calypso-inspired melodies. This June marks it a year of being signed with Weirdo Workshop. What they are able to do now with Weirdo Workshop has shifted their career path to a whole new direction. With the ability to stay focused in their Trinidad and Tobago roots, they are able to showcase a freedom of expression with their music that they have never experienced before. Weirdo Workshop presents “Something Major at Midnight,” celebrating and releasing Kes the band’s brand new single ‘Major.”
To get the crowd going, anyone affiliated with Weirdo Workshop began free styling, chanting and clapping soca styled music. It was so uplifting to see representation and pride of such a unique culture.
Pumping up the crowd, Tessanne Chin introduced Kes the band to the stage and the entire room lit up. Because of their strong fan base, the excitement filled SOB’s. With the release of ‘Major’ at midnight, the crowd could not wait for the band to make their appearance. Trinidad flags were waving in the air as the lead singer Kees jumps up onto the stage. With a quick introduction and a big thank you to the crowd, the band began playing, showcasing how they truly belonged on that stage.
